Living with COVID-19 has had a significant impact on people’s mindset, and the extent of this impact varies from person to person. But did it change people’s thinking for the better or worse?
As the pandemic raged on, the population were getting more and more desperate to find the light at the end of, what seemed at the time like a never ending, tunnel. After 2 years, restrictions were largely lifted and you could start seeing your friends and family again; but things had changed. A lot of people were a lot more skeptical and even now, years on, a small minority still wearing mask when they leave the house. But other than the masks, what else has changed?
Increased awareness of health and hygiene: People have become more conscious of their health and hygiene since the pandemic hit. They have started to take extra precautions, such as washing their hands frequently, wearing masks, and maintaining social distancing to prevent the spread of the virus.
More focus on mental health: COVID-19 has affected people’s mental health, and it has become more of a priority for many. People are more willing to talk about their mental health issues and seek professional help if needed.
Greater appreciation for essential workers: The pandemic has highlighted the crucial role played by essential workers, such as healthcare professionals, grocery store workers, and delivery drivers. People have started to recognize their hard work and sacrifice, and there is more appreciation for their efforts.
Increased reliance on technology: COVID-19 has accelerated the adoption of technology in many areas of life. People have started using video conferencing, online shopping, and other digital tools more frequently, which has led to more remote work and reduced physical contact.
Change in priorities: The pandemic has forced people to reevaluate their priorities and focus on what is essential. Many people have started to prioritize their health, family, and relationships over material possessions and career advancement.
Overall, COVID-19 has changed people’s mindset in many ways. The awareness around health, hygiene & mental health have all certainly increased. Alongside this, the pandemic has also somewhat led to changes in how people work, socialize, and interact with others.
